  • We had a great discussion at our biweekly office hours this week. Our next office hour is scheduled for December 3 (we are skipping November 26 to prepare those turkeys and tofurkeys). Join us on Wednesday, December 3, at 4:30 p.m. Eastern. Register now!
  • The DRP/RDAP Hackathon, held yesterday, was a great success. Thanks to Lena, Halle, and Tess for organizing it and to all the volunteers, like Rob O'Reilly, who were able to come out!

I was at @icpsr.bsky.social earlier checking for new releases and saw several new additions to DataLumos that were from yesterday's hackathon put together by the @datarescueproject.org and @rdapassociation.bsky.social folks. Not the worst thing to see at the start of a work day. ☺️

  • Lynda was invited to present on Data Rescue Project at the Open Science Symposium 2025, hosted by Carnegie Mellon University.
  • Data Foundation has a fun new initiative called The People's Data 100, which is right up our alley! What's your favorite dataset? What has the most impact? Nominate away rescuers.
  • We are often asked about ways to support our cause, and the Population Reference Bureau recently posted some information on "Five Things You Can Do to Protect Public Data." Lots of great tips!
  • As we enter the holiday months, we look forward to taking some time to reflect and rest. We may slow down our posts during the vacation period to allow our Steering Committee time away. We will provide more information to the community in a few weeks. But we encourage you to plan ahead for ways to intentionally slow down and take care of yourself during the holiday season.
