NCES Tables: Rescues in Progress

NCES Tables: Rescues in Progress

Since we started the Data Rescue Project (DRP), we have received many requests for saving the tables libraries associated with the National Center for Education Statistics surveys. The tables libraries in DataLab provide quick reference and summary statistics for researchers of the work the NCES does: research on safety in schools, the state of public and private schooling across America, and long term longitudinal studies of educational outcomes.

We have been hard at work on fulfilling this request, and while we are still tackling some of the tables libraries, we are proud to announce that we have made major progress on rescuing and backing up many of them. One of our volunteers, TripleShrimp, has provided his expertise to scrape the files associated with many of the tables libraries, and our DRP Steering Committee member Lena Bohman has documented the files and uploaded them to DataLumos, the repository that hosts many of our rescued datasets.

Here are the tables libraries that are now available and links to their homes on DataLumos:

And a BIG DRP thank you to all the hardworking federal employees who created these statistics! ❤️🛟
