New Resource: Federal Data Field Guide
Understanding and navigating federal data can be tricky– for both novices and experts! But there is now a resource to help you understand this complex ecosystem. Through support from the UC Berkeley Executive Fellowship in Applied Technology Policy, federal data experts Denice Ross and Chris Marcum have teamed up to create the Federal Data Field Guide: a comprehensive (and plain language!) guide to help anyone learn more about the different types of data created in the federal statistical system. While designed for researchers, journalists, and policymakers, this guide can help anyone identify federal data “in the wild.” With more than 80 (!) specific examples of datasets across more than 50 federal agencies, this guide highlights just how diverse the category ‘federal data’ is.
As if this weren’t exciting enough, the different types of data are assigned personalities and representative animals. Read the full press release and check out the Field Guide!
